I can't listen to Steve Vai for more than a few seconds for that very reason.
Eric Johnson is not someone I listen to very often, but I've seen him play live a couple of times and I enjoyed his playing both times. I just recently saw him as part of the 2014 'Experience Hendrix' tour and he was one of the highlights of the show. Here's a video clip of him with Eric Gales, at the show I saw, taken by another fan...

Nu Metal is a good genre.

Not sure how unpopular, but The Ramones>The Sex Pistols, though both are great.

Smells Like Teen Spirit is so good it's the only grunge song I like. I actually dislike grunge for the most part.

I was just listening to the Top 40 the other day, there was some stuff I skipped, but it was pretty good actually. I'm sure if I listened to the top 40 a few decades ago there would be songs I would skip, but also songs I love.

That's not unpopular, and I'm speaking objectively, it's a sub-genre after all. That would be like saying, 'Thrash metal is a good genre.' < is an unpopular opinion, when thrash is enormously popular.

Linkin Park (I believe) is nu metal, along with the notables of Slipknot, SOAD, etc. and all those bands are extremely popular.

I actually agree with this statement, some of their songs are real discouraging for me because I really only care for their hard rock/blues/funk songs like Walk This Way and my personal favorite, Last Child.

I was being jokey with that part of my post. There's always been a high crap to good ratio in the top 40.

Yeah...despite what I said in my previous post, I will actually agree with you about the top 40. When Robin Thicke's Blurred Lines came on I really wanted to kill myself.

Guess this is the perfect time for me to share the unpopular opinion (on mb) of actually enjoying Blurred Lines. I also like the songs Royals and Happy.

Agreed, their music is too bland for my liking.

I think the lead vocalist should just go cry in a corner before he pushes record next time. Horrible band.
