I think of Black Thought as sort of a serviceable rapper. He works fine in the context of the Roots, though he's not why I listen to them and he's not someone I'd be all that interested in hearing other projects from.

I gotta disagree with that, his side project The Money Making Jam Boys was very well done. It had a great mix and stellar production. I haven't listened to it in about a year, but i'm pulling it out of the dust for a sample tonight. Just reminded me, i've gotta pull out Mash Out Posse also. Hip Hop Tuesday.

I'm with you on this one Jans. I adore The Roots but I never expected to see Black Thought in anyone's favourite list in regards to his talent as a rapper.

Having seen both live, i'd still pick GURU live also. GURU played with DEL which put the show on another level.
