I get why. He sounds like he's singing with a bunch of marbles in his mouth that's why.
I doubt BF thinks school shootings are funny. It's the awful ****ing singing.

I really don't see the Vai comparison at all. I like Jar of Flies precisely because it contains less attempted cockrockery and more of the depressive stuff that I feel they were a lot better at and never did enough. |

I thought that Cantrell went with a completely different guitar tone on that album that sounded very Vai/Satriani. AIC always had walls of Distortion on previous albums and that album had a very soft core overall. I've never heard an AIC song that didn't sound depressing so I don't hear the album in the same way you do.

I might have to agree on "Rotten Apple". That guitar is just entrancing. It's so pretty sounding, and yet it's got this subtle creepiness that sums up all that is good about the band when they're not being a quasi-second rate stoner metal band. ****, I'm just listening to the song right now on headphones, and I never noticed they use slight echoes on Layne's vocals that make it just that much creepier.

It is not so much them specifically but their representations of black people are being exploited negatively. For instance, lets say a black girl in a rap music video doesn't mind showing her .... and acting like a submissive hoe. Okay, that is fine that she wants to do that because that is HER personal choice, I get that. However, ' the problem with that is when other people and races look at her in those music videos. When they look at the way she dresses, talks and acts, they are also going to project those same images and representations to black women in real life. It happens subconsciously and naturally. Oh and the video girl phenomenon is still alive and well. It is a multi-billion dollar business. It is sad what they subject themselves to when the cameras aren't rolling. |

What point was that?
You mean the point about the Krump dancing? I don't think you do because the issue is far complex and is much deeper than the simplistic answers you give. It is IMPOSSIBLE to discuss how Hip Hop was created and AVOID discussing African American discrimination, urban youth, ghettos etc. It is just impossible because those themes influenced the creation of Hip Hop. That's fine but it is important to understand that for Hip Hop it was built on the socioeconomical underprivileged of black people. So when you say things like "Why do the rappers in the early 90's talk about violence/ cursing/violence against the police" that is why. |
