I think that TVU in general are kind of boring. The only tracks I liked on their first album were the ones that featured Nico.

I think some of the "classics" are just as boring as some classic literature, it's a bunch of people pretending to like it, then half of that bullies people about ~~~~not getting it~~~~ |

Edit: I can certainly agree with some of that. The second half of VU&Nico is pretty dull, and every song with Nico just sounds pointless. And "The Gift" off of White Light/White Heat is fun the first time you hear it, but after that it's just filler. But every other song on that album is fantastic. I haven't listened to much of them after White Light/White Heat, so I can't say much about the later albums.

Agree to disagree; I think her solo gothic-y material is fantastic. Her voice is definitely an acquires taste, though, she has a very flat low alto that can be a little off-putting. Still, I'm a sucker for unique voices, and by contrast I just find Lou Reed's to be kind of monotonous.

Certainly wouldn't be their best album but I wouldn't go too far as to call it awful. I like 'The Gift' and 'Here She Comes' (I do admit 'The Gift' does lose it's novelty after a few listens) but 'Sister Ray' can be very tiresome and tedious to listen to more than once. I'd listen to their self-titled over it any day.

(To me) 'The Gift' is what purgatory sounds like.
