Everything is confusing about certain genres.

I'll go one further and say that a lot of these sub genre and sub sub genre classifications seem like so much horsesh*t to me...

It's a contender. Steve Howe was a maniac on a couple of songs from that album, but I wouldn't say it's the best, anyhow that album was a hundred times better than 90210. I didn't care for the Trevor Rabin junk.

Haha you have no idea man, genres like proto-doom-metal-post-punk-jazz-abstract-blues-rap-shoegaze-rock really make the entire idea of genre identification a tad bit absurd.

Carly Rae Jepsen's "Call Me Maybe" is a pretty good pop song

You like Heathen Chemistry? I thought that one was awful. Their first 3 albums and their b-sides collection is their only good releases imo.

I actually hated Dig Out Your Soul and Don't Believe The Truth was average for me.

Ooh, controversial!

I loved the first album, it was like a breath of fresh air but after that they plummeted faster and faster with each album.

the debut was good for its time - has little or no musical merit

the later albums show some degree of craftmanship

I agree... except every time I start to get really deep into some type of music, I start noticing that all those goofy sub-sub-genres actually become really helpful little descriptors. So basically: from the inside they serve a purpose but from the outside the just seem dumb.
