This statement interests me... Dylan has gotten so much hype from music critics across the board, but... I have never really known why. So, I'm going to listen to a few of his most critically acclaimed albums and do a bit of research on him.

I'll get back to you when I am finished...

Yeah, I know mine is the unpopular opinion. I stand by it though. I like 3 guitar chords underneath possibly improvised lyrics. Always have.

Also, you had poetry workshop in 4th grade? Damn, what an advanced society we've become. No wonder kids today don't enjoy basic, natural music like that Dylan song.

Yes were always AOR. Just symphonic AOR.

I dislike all the 1970's Yes I've heard. I like the later stuff.

Good point. For every Close to the Edge/The Gates of Delirium, there is a Roundabout/I've Seen All Good People/Starship Trooper/And You And I.

Either way, much like many of the prog bands that survived during the 80's, they sold out to MTV and air play. As much as I despise that trend, I can't say I blame them, either.

I actually liked the way YES transcended from the 70s to the 80s with more funk to their music, with singles like Owner Of A Lonely Heart and The Rhythm Of Love.

I don't really see them as selling out.

All (artist/bands) made music videos in the 80s.

Yes and other artsy rock bands, especially Genesis, were making music videos even before MTV started. I think that the MTV format forced artists to shorten their songs, and personally I like that, because many 70's rocks songs were long and bloated.
