That's not really an opinion, more the declaration of a preference.

Opinion would be:

"Prog sucks and people who like it just do so cause they can't get laid"

then again, that's sadly not unpopular.

That is not really an opinion either - that is a slight.

Punk music didn't kill Prog, the one two punch that killed Prog - Bill Bruford left Yes; Peter Gabriel left Genesis.

I've never really bothered listening to the drumming in Yes albums. I've always thought the focus was on Squire's bass and Howe's guitar. Hmmmmm

Undoubtedly Steve Howe is one of the all time great guitarist and well verse in any guitar style and music genre, and his playing is a real tour de force. Needless to says Yes was/is a revolving door of members, Howe-Bruford era was my favorite. Anyway Bill Bruford gave Yes that added Progressive edge with odd timing and Jazz-like feel approach while on the other hand Alan White was more or less a Hard Rock drummer and White never came close to the edge of Prog drumming - and you know it.

I think better put is: Prog never died, it's popularity died. Disco also would probably be a well bigger culprit, anyway.
