It's a decent psychedelia album from it's time.
It's not much more than that though.

Especially a lot of musicians it seemed.
Yes was not labeled "Classic Rock" in its day, but was instead considered "Classical Rock". Rock music had progressed and become some of the best Technical Rock ever produced in the industry. And it didn't get any more perfectly exhibited. I always considered that era of rock with other bands included like Rush for example, to be a era/era's of (rock) perfection musically.
The only solo Yes album that I ever liked was "Fish Out of Water" by Chris Squire and sure that era of the early to mid 70`s did produce the finest examples of technical rock ever, whether this music was progressive or just very well executed that era does stand out for its polished musicians.

Agreed, SF Sorrow was always a far superior album to the overrated Piper at the Gates of Dawn.

I like "Close to the Edge", "Relayer" and "Tales from Topographic Oceans". Always been curious about that solo album. Think I'll download it.

This makes me sad. The Sonics were great, and had a really great sound and tone. They were pretty influential on punk later.. "Boom" is still amazing.

Glad someone else thinks this... All they did was play rock 'n' roll songs (most of which they didn't even compose) loudly. Their debut is fun to listen to, but it's not nearly as revolutionary as people make it out to be.

The Monks are much more original and creative...

nevermind the debut, listen to "Boom"the follow up. Better.

Also "but it's not nearly as revolutionary as people make it out to be." were you a part of it? would need people who were to discuss that. I know I was not, so i can't say.
