I would rather see Guns and Roses, and nothing is half as bad as TO BE WITH YOU, their only hit and an absolutely horrible song. Guns N Roses i don't consider in the hair metal vain at all, they rarely showered, always had greasy hair, shot heroin, and looked nothing like a hair band. Hair bands always had perfect quaafs, sung ballad songs only, rarely ventured from three chord sellout music, and had chicks dancing on cars in their videos. They sound unique, when you hear a guns song its clearly guns and roses, its never mistaked for aerosmith or motley crue as you've described.

I`ve always thought of Guns N Roses to be a hard rock outfit in most aspects, but they still came from that hair metal scene and appealed to hair metal fans, probably due to the LA connection.

Initially hair metal bands didn`t sing ballads, its only when a couple of the bands had success with ballads that the others followed suit.

All in all hair metal was just a amalgamation of 1970's glam rock, punk, Kiss, Alice Cooper and especially Aersomith. Hanoi Rocks probably did more for the genre than anybody else, all in all it was a sad time in music.

I certainly agree with them being a hard rock outfit, thats what i would deem them. I saw them at the Whiskey before that album broke and the hype that ensued and thought they were a decent hard rock band. Not my thing but they were certainly not a hair band, but i see the correlation with the crowd that likes their music. For me theres never a sad time in music, its so eclectic i can find something redeemable from every era of music. Theres certainly been better eras i'll agree.

Uh... Guns N' Roses don't do sappy hokey ballads?

besides, hair metal bands were supposed to be dirty as ****. Motley Crue were basically dirty junkies in the EXACT same vein. In fact, maybe even further. Beyond it the SOUND is the same as any glam rock band. Some hair metal bands were slightly heavier. But the weren't freaking Slayer by an stretch. Guns N' Roses aren't either. Bland radio friendly BS.

Terence Hill, as recently confirmed during an interview to an Italian TV talk-show, was offered the role but rejected it because he considered it "too violent". Dustin Hoffman and John Travolta declined the role for the same reason. When Al Pacino was considered for the role of John Rambo, he turned it down when his request that Rambo be more of a madman was rejected.
Al Pacino = God

And i never Considered Motley Crue a hair band for their first two records. They looked the part but TOO FAST AND SHOUT AT THE DEVIL were pretty hard rocking albums.

Off to Lunch don't go polluting the thread with any Aerosmith or Mr Big, i've already done that. LOL

Depressive Suicidal Black Metal is good.
