Same. The Clash can express more with 3 chords than Yes can with 20.

You didn't mention Rush. Now I really believe you about coming from a small town in Canada that only had a Top 40 & a Country radio.

Yeah, no one heard of The Who when they a house band of Andy Warhol at the factory, and they were never played on the radio. No one knew who they were because they wore make-up on stage. But they did have a comic book that used their own blood in the ink which made their music party music. Their music wasn't popular until decades when they were rediscover by Jerry Bruckheimer. The rest is History they create Heavy Metal, and Grunge and Sludge Metal and Stoner Rock. I've been reading pages and pages of this stuff and I thought if I can't beat them I'll join them.

I try to forget Rush exists personally. With them, i think they are all talented musicians, I just can't stand Geddy Lee's vocals. Neil Pert is amazing though, I remember taking some drum lessons and having to watch videos by him on the first day, and instantly saying... I quit.

I disagree. I like all their stuff until Endless Wire.

I would like to hear some examples of the rock you are talking about though..

I like music that is usually more simplistic, raw and down home feel.

Overall as I say, most prog is just too cheesy to me, with a few exceptions which I named.

Aqualung is a case of an album I think is well written and well performed, I like Jethro Tull. I like some King Crimson... but the majority of the rest to me is awful.
I used to think like that, but you have to really listen with a lot of concentration to catch all the good bits.

I like Tool... a lot... but I can understand why folks don't. There are just certain elements of the band that identify with elements of your own musical history and taste. Just like any other band. No one can say that Tool isn't a collection of talented musicians... all they can say is that those musicians don't produce music that appeals to them. Just like any other talented band.

I can understand why some folks like nothing more than in-your-face hard thrash, while others like soothing classical. It's personal context. And there's nothing wrong with that.

I think the majority of Tool fans tarnish the concept of Tool, more than Tool tarnishes the concept of Tool.

I love Tool and I also can understand why some people would hate them

I like Tool, I just can't stand 99% of their fans.

That's usually the complaint. Personally, I couldn't give less of a shit about Tool fans. I'm more interested in the music.
