Nah, I happily listen to both... I sometimes get the feeling that it's cool to hate certain bands on this forum.

I like Nirvana, Alice In Chains, and Soundgarden. Never really cared that much for Pearl Jam. Especially acoustic Pearl Jam.

However, I'm infinitely frustrated at their popularity. In an age where we had Boredoms, Mr.Bungle, Ruins, Melt Banana, Naked City, Melvins, Faith No More, Idiot Flesh, Negativland, etc. Bands that would later become favorites of mine, which I had 0% of actual exposure until over a decade later(with the exception of Faith No More, of course, and the Melvins to an extent). It's a little hard for me to swallow that a group of fairly rock oriented musicians who were doing straight forward rock music were really innovative.

I mean, cut down the solos, and rewrite the themes to be less sex oriented, and more suicide oriented, and they were barely a step out of the 80s.

I however, still enjoy Soundgarden, have a soft spot for Alice In Chains, and occasionally listen to Nirvana in the closet.

Terence Hill, as recently confirmed during an interview to an Italian TV talk-show, was offered the role but rejected it because he considered it "too violent". Dustin Hoffman and John Travolta declined the role for the same reason. When Al Pacino was considered for the role of John Rambo, he turned it down when his request that Rambo be more of a madman was rejected.

Not to have a metalhead moment here, but Cradle of Filth are not black metal. If anything you can stretch and say they are blackened death metal...but mostly I consider them to be death metal. They call themselves something else, but it's bull****.

Jar of Flies is an incredible EP. "Nutshell", "I Stay Away", "No Excuses" and "Don't Follow" are great songs.

Their self-titled album is a bleak disc full of drug addiction and darkness as well, "Grind", "Sludge Factory", "Heaven Beside You" and "Over Now" are some of their best.

"Facelift" was decent, not my favorite though, as was "Sap".

Even the new album was good, not as good as the days with Layne, but not bad either. "Your Decision" is a good song, that I could have seen Layne singing.

They have elements of Black Metal. Their early stuff a lot more, "Dusk...and her Embrace" and "Cruelty and the Beast" were pretty close to being straight up.

I just refer to CoF with the generic "Extreme Metal" label.

I am not a huge fan, but I love the stuff they do with Doug Bradley. That comes from my love of horror movies more though. I think Doug is great.

Personal unpopular opinion: Metal subgenres are awesome even if they annoy the fuck out of 99.9% of the music-savvy population.

I don't know if they can annoy people though. First of all, no two metalheads agree on a bands classification. And secondly, 9 out of 10 subgenres are created on the spot by people saying things the band is wearing.

i.e. "They strike me as Nordic Viking Beard metal." Well they can't really be Nordic, since the bassist is Portuguese. "Well then their Pillage & Rape Metal with some Balsamic overtones."

I'll give it to you if we can call it "Beard & Scalp Metal with some Iberian undertones"

"deal"

Yeah dude I was really into them like 4 years ago. The self titled is pretty ok but honestly do I think the new album is awful.
