Yeye, Oasis may be derivative as hell, but stuff like "Live forever", "Supersonic" and "Don't look back in anger" are britpop masterpieces, and I'm not budging an inch on this one.

Don't Look Back in Anger is a great song, but I think it's reaching to call it a britpop masterpiece.

This is a britpop masterpiece

Now we're talking! Blur > Oasis, but that's another story. (As is the fact that Ray Davies is the father of all things britpop, so Kinks >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Blur > Oasis).

I think Damon Albarn has proven over the years just who are the more talented songwriters. Oasis blows.

PULP > Remainder of britpop, excluding Blur.

The Importance of Being Idle is a great song, but ultimately, Oasis owe a great deal of their material to the discographies of others.

(Yes! There you have it, an unpopular opinion!)

I hate how people only think about a few bands when Britpop is brought up, what about The Auteurs? Super Furry Animals? Gorky's Zygotic Mynci?

Some bands are more obvious than others. I "hate" when people only bring up Yes, Genesis and King Crimson when prog is brought up.

That said, britpop is essentially a 60's thing revived for the 90's, something that seems to go unnoticed.

Not really

Apart from Oasis ripping off The Beatles & Blur ripping off The Kinks most of the influences came from the 70s & 80s.
