I think anything by hendrix, probably even his farts, sound better than the commodores.
Hendrix is really pure, the Commodores are so overproduced and polished.

But hey, to each his own, obviously.

Hendrix, by default, is a much better performer than the Commodores, surely by a proportion of quantity and quality

but "Machine Gun"? I don't find anything interesting about it, and it's mostly a novelty guitar song for me - stacatto machine gun chords, dive-bombing? and even if it probably was the first song to use "dive-bombing" it isn't really very interesting dive-bombing

the two Commodores song have better thought and care put to them, and I can dance to them too

I haven't got a clue how he performs, I only have his records

And I cannot dance to anything that isn't ska, reggae, punk or metal ;D.

eh, tbh i think that's one of Hendrix's more haphazard solos; i enjoy his solos in "Bold as Love", "Astro Man" or "Little Wing" much more because of the amount of feeling and not just speediness put into it. while it is a fun solo, it doesn't grab me as much as his more softer and less technical stuff.

manufactured doesn't necessarily mean bad either. the general groove and production on Commodores' song i feel is alot more enjoyable. like i said previously, i'm a Hendrix fan and overall he wins musically, but i'm just saying that on THIS song, i like the Commodores Machine Gun more

but yeah, even though i stand by my statement, doesn't mean i don't like Jimi Hendrix's, hell it's an amazing display of his skill and the way he plays while singing is my favorite part of it; but when i'm putting on music to enjoy on long car rides or when doing my work, i'll go for Commodores on this one.
