Despite being sad, as you said, it is also a very interesting musical experiment. Syd never played a song the same way twice, so they would use his best take and dub over it, working around bad notes and off times. I think the result is actually really good...the whole album is very interesting.
I'm glad you think that too. The majority of the people I come across criticize that album for the very reason you find it interesting. Plus, having some of the members from Soft Machine contribute to its sound makes it even better in my opinion.

On another note... is his second album any good? I haven't listened to it yet.

Edit: Sorry to hear that about your friend.

I have an even more unpopular opinion - I prefer Sixpence None the Richer's version

Ah thanks...I was just thinking out loud really. People just gotta be careful with that stuff ya know.

I can get why people would complain about the "mistakes". Personally, I love things that are weird and different so I was immediately drawn to the album. The great thing about it is even though they were Syd's mistakes, the band does a great job of making it seem like they were completely on purpose.

I haven't heard the second album. The Madcap Laughs has always been enough for me but now I kind of want to check it out.

Listening to Madcap Laughs... and not getting into it at all.

Terence Hill, as recently confirmed during an interview to an Italian TV talk-show, was offered the role but rejected it because he considered it "too violent". Dustin Hoffman and John Travolta declined the role for the same reason. When Al Pacino was considered for the role of John Rambo, he turned it down when his request that Rambo be more of a madman was rejected.

Well... None of us have said it's a sure win. You kind of have to understand where he is coming from. After all, the guy is more or less insane on that album.

Hah, I quite like Bon Jovi. I think they have a LOT of mediocre songs, but on the whole I usually thoroughly enjoy listening to them.
