The reformed Janes Addiction are a joke , if they had released Strays in 1991 they would have died with all the other hair metal bands.

British rock music is a joke at the moment and it seems as long as you sound like The Jam or The Smiths you are sure to get a record deal.

The Velvet Underground are the most overrated band of all time , Speaking of which Lou Reed has only made 2 albums worth listening to in 30 odd years.

Most singer songwriters bore the crap out of me. I can`t think of anything more boring than listening to someone crying over an acoustic guitar for an hour.... A bit of variety please.

Emo is far less annoying than extreme metal.

I`ve still yet to see a metal thread comparing bands where someone doesn`t mention how technical the guitarist is.... yawn. And if you use the term 'shredding' to express why you like an album please kill yourself.
And another thing why do you have to be extreme to be a metal band these days? Anyone would think metal started in the early 90s if you listen to some people on this forum.

Radiohead are the greatest band of the last 20 years .... but I still don`t rate Thom Yorkes vocals.

I thought Chris Martin was quite funny in Extras and I don`t hate him nearly as much as I did.

King Crimson may >>>>> Can
Yes may >>>> Roxy Music
But at least Can & Roxy Music never released anything as pretentious & dull as Larks Tongue In Aspic & Tales From Topographic Oceans.

I`ll take Hair Metal over Grunge anyday , but only the proper stuff like Dogs D`amour , Hanoi Rocks , Girl and that kind of thing. Not the lame pop rock like Poison , Bon Jovi & Motley Crue.

This thread is great. It's good to see how stupid some of you really are.

Except for urban hatemonger. He's only dumb for calling velvet underground overrated. No one even talks about them. I only know like 2 people who even like them, let alone can name a song besides heroin or venus in furs.

And then I realized... like I was shot... like I was shot with a diamond... a diamond bullet right through my forehead. And I thought: My God... the genius of that.

Which was the point I was making.

The media are always going on about how much of an influence they were how they changed rock music blah blah blah yet very few people actually listen to them.

So by calling me dumb you`ve gone ahead & made the same point I was

Well done.

Yeah, they influenced good rock bands like sonic youth and dino jr where as bands like the stones and zepplin , however good they may be, influenced **** like wolfmother. Your point doesn't even make sense. They're not overrated if they did exactly what everyone is saying they did, influence good rock bands. That sounds like they're rated pretty accordingly.

Haha if you can't disern good music from bad and cry about "opinions" all the time then that is the sad part. Defending bands who butcher music as art should be punishable by death if there was any justice in this world.
