I never said they were too hyped, I just said some people are incredibly obsessed with them. They are talented musicians and I'll admit I have moods where their music really clicks with me, but for the most part I can't just pop on a Wilco album and be guaranteed that I want to actually listen to it.

It sounded great the first time around, I really need to give it another listen and to get to know it a little better.
Would you say that's their best album?
If I like, I'll end up getting the other 3 anyway.

And I agree with Anton, Wilco are great but I hardly ever listen to them. I knew after Yankee Hotel Foxtrot their popularity grew but meh, they have made some great albums.
It's my favourite, but all their albums are awesome imo. Especially the live one. And I agree with you as well, Wilco can be really good and Yankee Hotel Foxtrot is a great album. But Wilco sadly suffer from the same thing as many bands before them, too much hype.

I don't care about hype, I don't like or dislike a band any more nor less.
I think it only applies to over exposure and the only times I've heard Wilco have been on my own terms, so I'm not bothered.
They aren't a band I listen to a lot, I hardly ever listen to them but they are damn talented.
I'll have to give all of Uncle Tupelo's albums a listen before I can agree with your unpopular opinion but No Depression sounded great. I'll give that one a relisten tonight.

Beat Pyramid > Hidden
Liz Phair is the blandest musician on the planet
Tycho isn't actually that bad. It's something to listen to during the five year gap between BOC albums
The Tragically Hip aren't as bad as people say they are. I occasionally find myself enjoying their music
The most overrated band of all time? Arcade Fire.

You don't hear as much about them now, but around the releases of Yankee Hotel Foxtrot and a Ghost is Born they were one of those critical darling, hyped to the heavens type of bands.

Well I have to agree with you on that one.

Seriously, I'm not sure which band I think is most overrated, but I think U2 and the Stones score very high for me. I never really liked either of them, apart from the occasional song.

I'm pretty sure this would be a fairly unpopular opinion here:

Nick Cave bores the **** out of me.

Im not arguing that some people will find him legitimately boring, but what era of work of his have you tried? Just out of curiosity
