I like Funeral a lot, but I was expecting more the first time around since it was hyped so much. A solid release to be sure, but definitely not earth shattering.
So, I guess I agree.

Arcade Fire in general is seriously tough to swallow. Their early work is either too zealous and overbearing, and their new work is wallpaper music. Albeit, I kind of like Funeral, but I definitely agree with the overrated sentiment.

definitely overrated, but still enjoyable. However, I don't know if I'd say it's the most Overrated album EVER.

ULTRA UNPOPULAR OPINIONS:
Arcade Fire was never good, Thom Yorke is the whiniest person on the planet and Math Rock is possibly the same-est genre on the planet depending on what you're listening to. Most bands are either Hella clones or Don Caballero wannabes. If you want to be a decent math rock musician/band, try blending math rock with another genre so you'll be less unoriginal. |

Math Rock is likely more susceptible to the whole "WE'RE WANKING ON OUR INSTRUMENTS!" accusation than many Prog. Metal bands (you're WELCOME Dream Theater...). Bands like Hella have a few interesting ideas choked with so many obnoxious and self-indulgent ones that listening to their music becomes a chore. At least with Dream Theater there's so much cheese in the music that you can have something to hold onto.
