Well i'm no Dream Theater fan but i'm not too sure what it is you mean, to be honest. I'm not sure because Trivium and DT don't have anything in common.

The do have somethings in common, theyre both terrible and pretentious and dull and boring, neither have anything relevant to say about anything and they hide behind over produced substandard work. They say bull**** baffles brains and these two bands prove it.

So aside from the fact you consider both bands to be shit, it's the production you take issue with? Because musically, they aren't similar at all.

I dont remember saying their music was the same, the point i originally made was i hate that kind of stuff, any band that sounds like either of them is ****, i didnt want to sit here and type the name of every band that sounds like either of them it would have taken all day.

Music for little kids until they discover music.

My point was that there is no THIS kind of stuff when you use two different bands as examples that are not alike, therefore I don't know what point it is you are trying to make.

This post says that both Dream Theater and Trivium are progressive metal, whether you intended that or not.

You also didn't answer my question. If Dream Theater is the only progressive metal band you've heard then it's pretty hard to have an opinion on an entire genre of music. That would be like if I got robbed by a black person and immediately decided to hate all black people. I won't defend Dream Theater at all, they are a shit band and I hate the fact that they are the entry level band for most kids after they grow bored of Metallica, but progressive metal as a whole has some incredibly talented musicians and band who do the progressive rock of the '70's proper justice. Know what you hate before you publicly declare your disdain for it, because people who actually know what they are talking about can see through your comments.

Its strange isnt it, that when you post an opinion that you believe to be true its because you dont know what youre talking about. There are exeptions to every rule Pete, at least we agree on one thing, Dream Theater are s hit.
