Jeff Mangum's voice fits NMH's music perfectly. In the traditional sense, he's a terrible singer, but so's Efrim Menuck and he's done brilliant stuff with ASM. You're only a bad singer if you voice doesn't fit what you're trying to do. Sting couldn't do ITAOTS and Jeff Mangum couldn't do opera.

True but it's certainly not an unpopular opinion. Apart from Kiedis the others are/where good individual musicians, they can certainly play but they just came together and recorded complete toss. And i'm including their 80's material.
