To add to this, how many people have heard other musicians covering Neutral Milk Hotel? Most of the time it's god awful. I can think of one or two covers that are okay (one is by Sherri Dupree of Eisley, the other by Jesse Lacey of Brand New - both of Two Headed Boy pt. 2 interestingly enough.) However, those are only okay because they're better then any NMH covers I've heard. I mean, I've heard probably a good dozen or more attempts at people covering Neutral Milk Hotel and it always falls flat. When I really examine it, I can't find a flaw in the cover it's just the absence of Jeff's voice that ruins it. I was totally in love with him when I first heard him sing, and anyone trying to take that place just sounds like a cheap, bad imitation at best and a total joke/raper-of-genius at worst.

It's funny, not only have I never listened to In the Aeroplane over the Sea, but I had never even heard of until seeing it mentioned on MB a year or two ago.

Yea. I didn't hear about them until last year. My friend, Matt, was playing Communist Daughter during our Journalism class and I thought it sounded pretty damn good. So I bought Aeroplane and have been listening to them since.

I only heard their name tossed around from time to time before I joined here. This was the first place where I've heard it talked about in such high esteem. That's why I listened to it at all and was then subsequently disappointed.

Not liking NMH, truly an unpopular music opinion here.

Eh, I understand. Their music isn't for everyone.

Silver Jews>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Pavement

Faust>Neu!>Can>Some Other Lesser Known Stuff.

Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots is a bit of a poor album.

Sigur Ros are a bit crap, the music is alright but nothing special and the lyrics can't even make up for it because they sing in gibberish.

Berlin>Transformer

Bonnie Prince Billy is extremely overrated and dosn't have a shred of the talent of other artists in the genre.

Future Days is Can's best album.

Nirvana are the 2nd worst of the popular Grunge bands that i've heard.

Flagpole Sitta is one of the catchiest songs of the nineties.

if it wasn't for Beth Gibbons voice, portishead wouldn't be very good.

Jack White is the most interesting person to come out of the last 15 years.

IV is probably Led Zep's 2nd worst album.

Agreed, I just don't really care for the Flaming Lips and think they're quite overrated here.

One of the most, yeah. I also read a bit into Matt Bellamy's personal life and he's quite interesting as well. Not to mention he's an atheist, so +1,000 cool points for that.

Well In Through The Outdoor is obviously much worse. But every other Led Zep album is amazing and thus compared to them, IV falls flat.
