Definitely start with "At Action Park". Pretty solid album and extremely enjoyable.

I lost quite a bit of music. I might re-download the albums.
That sucks, the same happened to me a while back I've been rebuilding ever since. But yes, re-download the Shellac!

ya lucky bastard, Shellac are one of the best live bands eva. They did a Q/A session when I saw 'em, I managed to get my ticket signed by Albini and Bob Weston as well. I'm keeping that one forever.

No chance they'll play a Big Black/Rapeman song though.

Even if they don't I can't complain. How did you manage to get your ticket signed?

After the Q/A session those of us who stayed were asked if we wanted autographs, I made a beeline for big Albini and Weston. Both super nice guys, if you get the chance to speak to them post-gig go for it.

I also met Aidan Moffat from Arab Strap as well, he was supporting Shellac that night. In general, just one of the best nights ever.

also, you don't like These New Puritans?
I think they're awesome.
These New Puritan's album 'Hidden' is one of the most original and daring albums put out this year considering their debut (which I really liked too) was angular Post Punk. I seriously think that it will be hailed as a classic in years to come. It certainly sounds unlike anything I have heard from a band that could have cashed in and released more of the same.

I've heard so much crap and criticism over them and I think it's unfair.

Hidden and Beat Pyramid are my favourites of 2010 and 2008, and I think Hologram and Fire Power are epic songs.

See to me, music didn't start getting good until about 2001/2003. Prior to that we were still locked in "movement" music and genre dominance. Thank god Steve Jobs made downloads trackable and available so we could free ourselves from the death grip of major labels.
You have spent the past year banging on how America is the fountain of all modern music but now it all sucks until 10 years ago?

Jazz, Blues, Rock n Roll are the fountains of modern music created by America yet they seemingly don't exist when it suits you?

Downloads have a bearing on listeners attitudes but they are not the be all and all.

How do u think Metallica got such a huge fan base? It certainly wasn't the damn internet. It was word of mouth and collective fans serious about music that spread the word. In fact Metal fans are one of the main reasons why the internet took off.

In no other niche of music will you find fans ready to share music and hype bands.
