I think people who believe that if you dislike a genre, you're short sighted are completely in the wrong. Unless the person they're saying it to are dismissing the genre because of 1 or 2 bands.
So, in other words I think it's okay to disregard an entire genre if you've heard a fair amount of music from that genre. |

But I have tried on a number of occasions to listen to some Sonic Youth and have never finished a song. So either way I still don't like them. But I don't really know any other bands in that genre or close to that genre.
