Classic rock is a particularly useless grouping though, in my opinion. I certainly don't think of Black Sabbath as a 'classic rock' band by any stretch of the imagination.
At least these sub genre terms attempt to put bands with similar sounds and techniques together. Classic rock just takes whatever was old and happens to be a rock song and throws it together.

Because his lyrics aren't that good, and I'd much prefer SOME kind of diversity when you're going to have a band releasing as many albums as they have.

I'd usually prefer to listen to music without vocals or discernible lyrics unless it's punk or reggae.

I'd rather not have vocals in music. i prefer the focus to be on the music.

Voice is an instrument though. Maybe you rather not have lyrics?

I also consider the voice and instrument and I'll support the other side of this...I would much rather have vocals/lyrics in a song, music that is purely instrumental really doesn't do anything for me.

I can go either way, I love some music with very discernible lyrics that I can relate to, and I love purely instrumental stuff.

Often I do not pay attention to lyrics though and can enjoy something simply based on the sound of the voice. Because of this, I can hate an artist/band simply because of the sound of the singer's voice, regardless of how good the music may be.

We have a thread for this...stop.

I'd love to see your signature/links too, but the huge and obnoxious ones have caused me to block all signatures.
