I have to back up BOC on this one. Music isn't all about your playing abilities, what's really important is your compositional abilities and creativity, which Aphex Twin certainly has in abundance. There's shedloads of talent to be found in electronic music, and metal to some degree.

It's not hard to make simple, basic electronic music, even i do it. But to become really good at it takes a lot of time, effort, patience and creativity, just like learning an instrument. It's not that easy to create something that actually sounds good.

making GOOD electronica is the challenging thing, it takes talent to create music as complex and still enjoyable as a lot of Aphex Twin's stuff is. It's a totally different kind of talent to making good metal music though. |

I believe actually devoting time to learning something physically, to the point it actually hurts your hands. Is much more of a challenge than spending a good amount of money to fiddle around with computer programs. I'm not saying Electronica takes no talent but I believe the quality of the music comes mainly from the creativity of the musician and not the "talent" of using the programs.

Ahh, well i did ask, I thought I may have misunderstood. But that point means nothing really I could turn around and say "Black Sabbath is more enjoyable than the majority of Electronica" or "The Clash are more enjoyable than the majority of ska" it's all relative it works with anything, any genre any band.
