Yeah I'm sure lyrical content is a big factor for you, I just don't get solely praising or discrediting an artist solely for that reason as if it's the only thing that matters.

The Doors did songs about mysticism and ****ing and The Stooges just did songs about f*cking. Why anyone would find them more lyrically interesting is beyond me.
Really, have you listened to anything of the Clash other than their hit singles and London Calling?

Jim Morrison was a ****ing tool, I really could give a **** less about a woman beater who sings about ****ing "mysticism". As a teenager, I'm really definitely going to care more about mysticism rather than just ****ing, right? Iggy Pop, all commercials aside, is a cool mother****er. He's a respectable artist, where Jim Morrison was just a twat. And the Stooges did more than just songs about ****ing, you've obviously not listened to much of the Stooges.

and yes, now that I looked through my Amon Tobin CDs and compared it to "Music Has The Right To Children" and held them up into the light next to my copy of Drukqs, i'm starting to think of IDM as a dumping ground for bands that don't quite belong in techno, are too hard and abrasive to be ambient, and isn't hard enough to be any of those industrial styles. And is it just me or does "intelligent Dance" sound a little y'know, pretentious? But I must admit, IDM sure is fun to listen to.

TL;DR version:
Dubstep isn't quite developed yet, and IDM is way too broad of a genre.
oh, and Casio-Core makes no sense.
I've never really thought of Amon Tobin as an IDM guy I have to say.

So you care more about how "cool" the artist is than the actual music, interesting to know. The Doors made actual music even if they never would have been as popular if it wasnt for the frontman. But the same goes for The Stooges except they were more about a simple concept of what music could be than actually making any real music.

I've only not heard their last album but I heard it was crap and if a Stooges album isnt up to par for the fans it must be pretty bad.

I won't deny that Morrison was indeed a twat but he made fascinating music and regardless of how much more likable Iggy is that can't change the fact that Fun House is boring crap.

Also The Clash were a bunch of pretentious twats. Joe Strummer being some upper class art school kid projecting himself as a working class hero. Give me a break.

I think you need to listen a little more actively.

The Stooges didn't make "real music"? What are you 90?

he's been categorized as IDM before. especially around the time of Out From Out Where.

i would categorize him as "that jazzy kind of electronic music"

I always though of him, and certainly that album, as closer to trip-hop honestly, though he definitely has a very unique style.

Also John Lennon was a homophobic c*nt and raging assh*le while we're on the page of discrediting artists for their personalities.
