Why? Don't you know that those are pretty generic opinions for an indie kid to have?

Especially those who have somehow managed to convince themselves that Guided by Voices and Jesus and Mary Chain aren't total sh*t.

Mike Patton did not invent avant-rock. It is not a concept that is solely trademarked to him.

Don't see that much around these forums but good God at a lot of other places.

I never thought he invented avant - rock... I just liked what he did within that genre.

Me too. Bungle is by far one of my favorite bands. However, a lot of people seem to think he completely invented and rules over the concept. Patton himself I appreciate infinitely for continuing to pursue the type of music he does even after being as massively commercially successful as he was in the early 90s.

It's just, there are people who know Patton, only know Patton, and dismiss everything that isn't Patton that takes a similar approach.

I own Queen albums
I own Radiohead albums

As far as i'm concerned that makes Muse's entire existence totally pointless.

What utter rubbish.
Is it too much to ask to want a bit of originality with my 'technical prowess' ?

So then owning a Zeppelin album makes every Hard Rock band's existence pointless?
