If I was taking a dump while I was writing that list I'm pretty sure I would have remembered them.

I mean it's not that I come into contact with them regularly, I don't think I've heard one of their songs on radio or tv since about 1994.

oh, them.
i was expecting those ridiculously boring indie acts that sit around with just an acoustic guitar and a mic, and sing a boring song about love or something.

i have a very "wow me or get out" attitude when i comes to music.

There's so many of those type of bands to me they just sort of blur into one band that releases an album every month.

same. for some odd reason pitchfork loves those bands. i don't find them very special, really.

The emo/screamo element of the hardcore/emo forum has virtually died over the past year.
All the discussion seems to be all about post hardcore & old 80s hardcore now.

I Wonder what happened to all those screamo nerds that used to post in there who were all in bands and who used to trade every single obscure demo & split single they could get their hands on.
Screamo kids are still around but they realised they were stupid and the forum didn't have enough fellow stupid people to talk to so they left.

I like all of the bands you've mentioned (aside from Kings of Leon). Although I only know most of them from the radio (Foo Fighters I've heard their greatest hits, and I've heard U2's last album, and their both good, but aside from that.)

I have to say once you put MUSE in there? I cannot describe (I could but it would be a long paragraph) how I felt when I was first getting into music, and Black Holes and Revalations was one of my first albums. It doesn't hit me anywhere NEAR as hard as it did (probably because I've heard it about 100times by now), but it was breathtaking. Hullaballoo Soundtrack is pretty awesome too (though not at BHaR's level). Hell, even the new album (which, I agree, really is boring) has Exogenesis.

If this strikes you as generic and boring, I dunno what won't.

So is 90s Smashing Pumpkins. 80s/90s era RHCP and early U2 are great as well.

Muse used to be very good (Origin of Symmetry is excellent) and the first two FF albums (Colour and the Shape especially) were good so whateva Urban, whateva.

Kings of Leon can eat sh*t and die though.
