Length is a good thing if you're not bad at doing it (NSB, SOTL, the massive Swans efforts, etc.). Albums that are 2+ hours need to hold my attention for that long.
That said, I don't know if this is unpopular, but albums that are about 30 minutes seem to appeal to me greatly. |

45-1 hr is good enough for me. Exceptions: Lamb Lies Down on Broadway by Genesis, Mellon Collie by the Smashing Pumpkins...actually that's about it.

Yeah, when I was younger I used to think more length in albums and movies just meant more for me to enjoy, but I have really grown to appreciate a well-produced 40 minute album (the ideal length in my mind)...

Agreed...I'm all for quality over quantity. In fact, there is a 25 minute album by the Eighties Matchbox B-Line Disaster called Horse of the Dog that I wouldn't want to be even a minute longer. It is completely perfect the way it is. I would rather be left wanting more than wondering when the hell the album will be finished.
