Surprised by the love for Pop in here.. it was better than the albums that followed sure. But that wasn't exactly hardly to do.

I wouldn't say I love it. Just that it was a reasonably okay album. Nothing amazing or anything.

I always thought U2 were kind of dismissed around here, and I've stuck up for them in the past because people that say they were never good are wrong. I think they had a couple of really good albums, couple of ok ones, and a lot of bad ones.

I may whip Achtung Baby out on a rainy day. Best album of their career.

I'm kind of the same way actually. I'm not a huge U2 fan but I do like them and don't think they get a fair shake around these parts for whatever reason.

"Black Hole Sun" has always been a boring song.

Pablo Honey was a great album.

Muse sucks.

Matt Bellamy sucks.

Adore has better songwriting than all other Pumpkins albums combined.
1. I'm gonna agree with this one, never liked Soundgarden much actually on the whole

2. Erm, have you even listened to In Rainbows yet? Pablo is like the deformed birthchild of Nirvana and REM.

3. TAKE THAT BACK.

4. TAKE THAT BACK AGAIN.

5. Adore was good, but not as good as you claim it to be, Mellon Collie and Siamese Dream were a lot better.

fixed that for you. yes, it was released under the Soundgarden moniker, but really, for the most part it's his first foray into solo territory. especially considering about half the album sounds like polished versions of the kind of acoustic demos Cornell recorded for earlier material. Never the Machine Forever, and Applebite are the only real highlights.

the 6 minutes and change of Head Down obliterates the entirety of Down on the Upside, nothing on DotU matches the driving intensity in the undercurrents of that one. Overfloater does its best to rehash it though...

I didn't mean that Adore was better than MCIS and SD, I meant it had better songwriting, really Adore was the peak of Corgan's songwriting.

I can agree with you to a point, but Ben wrote the music to "Zero Chance," "Dusty," "Ty Cobb," "Never Named," "Switch Opens," and he wrote the music and lyrics to "An Unkind." Kim wrote the music and lyrics to "Never The Machine Forever." Matt wrote the music to "Rhinosaur," and "Applebite." I will admit, Soundgarden's progression into the more mellow sound of DotU was mostly because of Cornell, but DotU was a team effort.

And there's no way that Applebite and Never The Machine Forever are the only highlights. Every song on that album is a highlight except for maybe An Unkind and Never Named.

And Cornell's first album 'Euphoria Morning' kicked major ass!

I tend to agree...a lot of the appeal that Soundgarden had for me were Kim Thayil's dragged-in-the-mud Sabbath riffs and they were all but absent in everything but a few songs on DOTU. That being said, I still enjoyed a lot of the album once you get over that stuff. I usually reach for Badmotorfinger anyway...best album hands down.

Speaking of Soundgarden, has anyone been keeping up with their "reunion"? I haven't had the time or interest to actually keep up with it.

Hmm...almost. The songwriting on Machina II was by far his peak. "Slow Dawn", "Vanity", "Speed Kills", "Real Love", "Let Me Give the World to You"...the list goes on and on. Even the hard rockers on that one like "Glass" or my personal favorite "Dross" are just plain awesome. It is beyond me why he didn't release those songs on "Machina"...that album would have been a sure fire hit.

I have been keeping up with the Soundgarden reunion, nothing too interesting so far.

Lyrics to "Glass' Theme"

Shattering fast
I'm glass
I'm glass
I'm shattering fast
I'm glass
I'm glass
I'm shattering, shattering
Glass, glass, glass
I'm shattering fast
I'm glass, I'm glass
Got a lot of tears
In a blood stained jar
It's been a real long time
Since I walked the fine line
You put up the walls
You put up the walls
Hold all my calls
Cause I'll be by the pool
Won't you please worship me
Won't you love what I adore
I'm alone in my soul
I betrayed rock 'n' roll
Rock'n'roll
Rock'n'roll
Rock'n'roll
Rock'n'roll
Everybody knows I'm last
I'm last
And everybody knows I'm fast
I'm fast
I'm shattering, shattering glass
Glass, glass, glass
I'm shattering fast
I'm glass
I'm glass
You put up the walls
Hold all my calls
Cause I'll be by the pool
Playing with my guns
Cause there's nowhere to run
Cause I'm the one you love now
Staying after school
Breaking all your rules
Shattering fast
Shattering glass
Shattering glass
I'm shattering glass

Lyrics to "Behold! The Night Mare"

I've faced the fathoms in your deep
Withstood the suitors quiet siege
Pulled down the heavens just to please you
Appease you
The wind blows and I know

I can't go on, digging roses from you grave
To linger on, beyond the beyond
Where the willows weep
And whirlpools sleep, you'll find me
The coarse tide reflects sky

And the night mare rides on, and the night mare rides on
With a december black psalm
And the night mare rides on
What i fear is lost here
The wind blows and I know

All you have to do is run away
And steal yourself from me
Become a mystery to gaze into
You're so cruel in all you do
But still I believe, I believe in you

So may you come with your own knives
You'll never take me alive
With all the force of what is true
Is there nothing I can do?

I can't go on, digging roses from you grave
To linger on, beyond the beyond
Where the willows weep
And whirlpools sleep, you'll find me

And the night mare rides on, and the night mare rides on
With a december black psalm
And the night mare rides on

I've faced the fathoms in your deep
Withstood the suitors quiet siege
Pulled down the heavens just to please you
To hold the flower I can't keep

I think I've made my point.
