I think it's ok to take to joke about someone's taste as long as it's in a light hearted and playful manner. I do make exceptions for members of this forum whom I can't stand personally.

Why are half the things people say on this site used to discriminate against others based on their musical tastes? I'm not going to say I'm not guilty of it, but not to the extent that alot of others are.
See that's what I thought too. I get that you can't for the life of you understand why people like certain things, because I am most definitely guilty of that, but it's just the artist or band in question I'll harp on. Not the person listening to them.

Music elitism (heck elitism in any aspect) really does my head in.

Music is very passionate for me too, but I'd rather save that energy and time talking about the things I like (or dislike) rather than make fun of people. All it does is make you look like a bully and a bit of an elitist douchebag.

Oh c'mon everyone on this site is guilty of this, yourself included (and me- I cannot stand Enya yet love Clannad). It's the nature of the beast (and the forum), the thing to do is not give a rats arse and listen to what you want and hopefully find some middle ground and share your love of bands that others enjoy.

I readily admit to liking a whole bunch of stuff that not many on here like and it annoys the crap out of me but we can't all be the same and enjoy the same stuff. It's when it's gets personal on here or people comment on bands without barely hearing them or limited knowledge of the genre that takes the piss.

Other than that a certain amount of ribbing is part and parcel of forums even if it does get to us all periodically.

I have to admit I like Enya a bit. Used to love her when I was younger.

I heard one of her songs the other week for the first time and I liked it.

I had no idea it was a bad thing... :'(

Also, I think Phil Ochs is better than Bob Dylan. (saying this usually gets me ritually exiled)

I'd love to see your signature/links too, but the huge and obnoxious ones have caused me to block all signatures.

I loved Enya when I was younger, I love Enya still. Her music is relaxing, soothing, beautiful, otherworldly. It's escapism at its best.
