Yeah same here. There are a couple of bands or at least songs I like that would be considered shoegaze, but as a whole I don't go for it.

I hate "shoegaze"'s name. It's fucking stupid. We have genres like ROCK & ROLL and INDUSTRIAL and PUNK and then one named shoegaze? Because it has lots of effects? Come up with something better!
Same thing with sludge metal, and some other stuff. How the hell does something sound sludge-y?

Sludge is an awesome description of a band's sound. I can't really think of a better term to describe a lot of bands, actually.
Tell me this doesn't sound "sludgy":
