I fervently stand by my belief that there is no such thing as an "indie" sound and that indie is not a genre of music.

yeah..I get ya! I can understand the fact that the music industry is alot bigger since say...the 50s, and of course music styles will change and splinter off into new sounds & styles of music, there is already so much music to choose from, different genres, etc. that no one person (in my opinion) could ever review all the music there is out there to choose from already, but if a certain style is identified by a generation of listeners then so be it, it seems kinda weak to tag something a certain genre of music just because of being on an independent label, maybe I am missing something, does Indie music have its own distinct sound/style, identity musically?

Me either.
Because it sounds like shit. If they can't sing and it simply corrects their voice, then I'm none the wiser. It's when they use it for vocal effect that it's just fucking annoying. Anyway...been there talked about that.
