Nirvana fans who think they know about underground music because they once bought a Meat Puppets album.
The Meat Puppets were crap.
Other bands I think that are crap that some people hero worship on this forum .... Primus , The Melvins , Muse and anything with Mike Patton apart from Faith No More.
I could never stand Primus either. I tried really hard but I just couldn't pull it off.

I like Primus per se, but I don't ever think I consider one of their albums a 'masterpiece'. They're just good, and some of them aren't even that. If they do get some sort of hero praise on here, it'd puzzle me.

i would love a playlist of all the worthwhile Primus songs so I don't have to go through their discography. there are certainly some good ones.

'1979' by The Smashing Pumpkins is a pretty annoying and overrated song. And I say that as a fan of their first 4 albums.

I'd love to see your signature/links too, but the huge and obnoxious ones have caused me to block all signatures.

I can't fault you for your opinion...but this makes me sad. That song is awesome...as is 90% of Mellon Collie.

I never liked it much even before it was a single, even less after.

Ok here's a few:

Hendrix is as much of a guitar wanker as Yngwie Malmsteen. A guitar wanker is a guitar wanker whether they have bluesy soul or not. I particularly dislike electric Blues guitarists like Stevie Ray Vaughn and Robert Cray.

In the 80s Megadeth was a better band than Metallica. Dave Mustaine was a better musician than all of Metallica combined. After the 80s both bands sounded horrible.

Pink Floyd is as boring as any generic 70s rock band.

Rock and Roll itself is not very good. I don't like Elvis or any of the Sun Records stuff much. Early Beatles was forgettable. All of these white guys ripped off black R-n-B artists who made boring music in the first place.

In general, musicians were more skilled, more imaginative and more passionate 200 years ago than they are now.

Alternative country bands are neither alternative nor country. They make their money by blatantly ripping off their musical heroes in a way that they feel is clever and new but it is not.

Canadian indie rock bands that were popular in the 00s, in general, suck.

Same goes for Brooklyn.

I find this quote that was in my head this morning appropriate:

"Nothing is a powerful place to stand. Only from nothing can you create."

So it follows that anything after the initial invention of music is influenced by what came before it, and therefore, less imaginative.
