I dunno about calling any of those bands technical metal. Metal surely isn't my strong point but when I hear tech metal I think of psyopus or Ephel Duath or something...you know...technical?

I take it you don't even have the slightest f*cking idea what Extreme Metal is.
It's not a genre, and overall it's a very broad term, it's simply a cluster of various metal subgenres... Death Metal, Black Metal, Thrash Metal, Doom Metal and Technical Death Metal all qualifies as Extreme Metal, everyone I listed (only a some random amount of what I have actually heard) falls under one of those categories, thus making them Extreme Metal. |

Anyway, Rise asked me about technical metal, I mainly stuck to naming Extreme Metal bands (I did forget to mention Morbid Angel and several others) because I know thats what he likes... Anyway, aside from Extreme Metal... I have also heard a lot of stuff like Racer X, Cacophony, Mr Big, Nitro and most bands that Paul Gilbert and Billy Sheenan were a part of, a lot of Power Metal.
And Progressive Metal of course, which is pretty damn technical. |

May, I know a good deal of Nitro fanboys.
I personally can't stand them, primarly because of the vocals and guitar. |

Minimalism is underrated and often misunderstood.

Therein lies the problem. Only Cynic and Athiest can really be considered Technical Death Metal. I can reccomend/YSI some albums or songs if you're willing to give it another shot.
