And they agreed to call off both gigs incase of trouble and Oasis called theirs off and Blur carried on anyway. Damon started the feud. I'd rather Noel come out and say Damon - I don't like you, you're a prick and your music is shit. Than play nicey nicey, he had something to say... and he said it. Nothing wrong with that.
Added to that if you were to ask both Noel & Damon about it. Noel pretty much tells it as it is and looks back on it with a sense of humour & a regret that things got so out of hand.

Albarn refuses to talk about it. Why? because him & Steve Sutherland basically initiated the whole thing to sell copies of the NME. And of course there's also the small matter of Blur putting forward the release of their single by two weeks so it coincidently came out the exact same day the Oasis one did.

I actually prefer Blur musically but Damon Albarn from what I've seen and heard from other musicians is that the guy is a massive cunt.

Kinda but in the "No Distance Left To Run" documentary he basically said he regretted it so I still like him, Graham is better though.

I know. It's a shame, I loved their stuff and was really looking forward to The Resistance and I heard that there was string arrangements, I was expecting something brilliant.

That is where I make the distinction.
Yeah, I really like Blur. But to say Noel is a prick for slagging off bands that are better than his is ridiculous. Oasis were lads from the north of England that liked drinking, liked football, liked women and liked drugs. They were from a council estate, if someone like Albarn who people from round here would look at and think they were a southern soft lad pansy started something.. You'd quite happily oblige by telling them exactly what you thought. Nothing wrong with being young and being caught up in your own hype and feeling like you have the right to speak your mind, even though in years to come you'll regret it. It doesn't make you a priick. It makes you a kid from a council estate that just earned a million pounds in royalties from an album you made and you're on top of the world.

Nope, not 'avin it. Drums are there to keep the rhythm, and nothing else.

How do you feel about bass solos?

Oh aye, I forgot about the moving of the single and other cunts tricks he did. I like Blur as well but when people say Oasis/Liam and Noel were the biggest cunt trouble makers in the music industry was unfair. Just because they were upfront about things.

I really have no opinion on his work with Dinosaur Jr. I'm still warming up to the older D Jr. material. So it's not like I prefer one songwriter/singer over the other. But I find Sebadoh (mainly Barlow's songs) more enjoyable than Dinosaur Jr. Guess we'll have to agree to disagree.

I'd love to see your signature/links too, but the huge and obnoxious ones have caused me to block all signatures.

Maybe I just hold a grudge because I think Oasis are an awful band and thus don't have the right to slag off anybody really.

That is just ridiculously closedminded. Drums have many uses beyond rhythm. Such as build up, tying sections together, and so on.

Applying rules to music, especially rock music, it's very stupid. Some rock bands like to bend the roles the way a jazz band bends the rules. If you only want to listen to 2 minute 4/4, three chord rock songs that don't amount to anything ambitious or adventurous that's fine but don't hold it against musicians because they're not ashamed of their abillities.

Biggest band in England from 94 to 97 has the right to slag anyone they want off. Better than being sly little fuckers, just come out and say what's on your mind.

I just don't think there's a need for it, drum solos are just shit. Even some of the best drummers didn't feel the need to do them. You can be a good drummer without going overboard, same applies to people like Hendrix.. but apparently you can't say bad things about Hendrix because he's a God. And they have a point. I just have an issue with drum solos, I really don't like listening to them.

Hendrix went overboard, that's actually the greatest part of his appeal, if he was a reserved guitarist, he wouldn't have been nowhere near as interesting.

Before Hendrix all guitarists were reserved, he was the guy who didn't give a f*ck about being sloppy and noisy and over the top. And what's wrong with that? It's rock n roll.

What's with all of these people who think rock n roll should be this ridiculously strict institution?

I won't say anything bad about Hendrix because 1) it's an unwritten rule that you can't and 2) because of what he did for Rock and Roll and the influence he had. That said I just choose not to listen much.. Every now and then I'll give Hendrix a listen.

Rock n Roll is all about expressing yourself, which is all well and good. But if you want to express yourself, play guitar. Not the fucking drums.
