Creed = Awesome?

That's just crazy.

I do think they have a few not so bad songs though, My Own Prison is a decent album and the title track is actually really good.

Everything after that is diarrhea poo.

Anyway, I love Loveless, but why do people always look over Isn't Anything?

It was the stepping stone for Loveless, people seem to make it out like that's all it is, but it really is a fantastic album, it's not as consistant, but it still has a lot of highs.

also, am I the only person on this forum who realises that "Indie" isn't a particular sound but the abbreviation of the word "Independent" meaning one who is signed to an independent record label. It never has been a genre and I don't see why it's regarded as one now, maybe ebcause a bunch of bands who sound alike have surfaced and all been labelled as "Indie" but I'm tired of people calling bands "Indie" when they're signed to a major record label.
Quoting myself from a response to another user yesterday:

Believe me, I fought this for years. But it actually has turned into a genre and a certain style. Can't fight it any more. That's why it's harder to categorize now...tons of bands used to be considered indie because they were on indie labels and sort of rooted in punk, now if they don't sound like typical indie, some people have a hard time calling them as such....even though they're sometimes more indie in the original sense of the word than what they now consider indie.

So in other words, like or not, indie as a genre is here to stay. But all it is is alternative rock...some on majors, some not.

I'd love to see your signature/links too, but the huge and obnoxious ones have caused me to block all signatures.

I'd have responded sooner, but I fell asleep.

That argument is something people on these boards have all heard before. You're ignoring precedent for factoids.

Language changes, especially the English language. Whatever indie was, isn't, just like no one says "fresh" "basehead" or plays with pogs any longer.

Indie is a style of music because we speak a living language. Your elitism is going to have to deal with that.

It just occurred to me that I don't think I've ever used this thread to say how f*cking awful Guided By Voices are.

Fuck you Pollard and your whole 'i'll release any old shit I record in my bedroom but I'll only release 10 copies so it becomes highly sought after by indie nerds' attitude.

The only reason Lou Barlow gets off because he used to be in Dinosaur fucking Jr.

I can tell from this line you're a complete prick so I'll make this blunt. **** your opinion. Royce 5'9 (a rapper) is considered "Indie" it is "Indie rap", he's on an independent label therefore indie. It's the same for every other genre.

Just look at this message board. Scroll down to the "Inide & Alternative" section and look at the description; "Look here for an alternative to mainstream bands."

Regardless if it's punk, metal, thrash, grunge, speed metal, acoustic rock or japanese xylophone techno reggae pop. You are only "Indie" if signed to an independent label.

And I won't be changing my mind any time soon

Creed were sweet when I was 10/11/12, I still listen now and again for some casual nostalgia but the shine has pretty much gone and they're not as good as I remember.

As far as early 2000's garage-rock revival bands go,

The Hives>The Strokes
