To celebrate there was a insane private party at a Hollywood hills mansion after the gig, where after everyone was trashed, Bonzo started tossing folks (including Harrison) into the pool.

Only person to stay dry was Zep's manager Peter Grant.

An excellent bootleg of the show is widely available.

There's some great stuff on Fly for sure, but the title track which is Yoko making baby noises a capella for 22 minutes is too much for me.

I like Yoko Ono/Plastic Ono Band a lot more, it's not as broad or ambitious but it's much more consistent and dosen't overstay it's welcome, the backing band of John/Klaus/Ringo is really tight throughout and it's really interesting to hear John and Ringo get more loose and experimental with their playing than they ever did on their own records, and Yoko brings just the right amount of energy and intensity while having enough restraint to not sound like she's having a medical emergency. Anyone who likes Damo Sazuki era Can ought to dig it, f*ck the haters.

Haven't heard her albums but this is a classic single. The vocal is brilliant

One of their best 70s tracks for sure

Agree that Exile is an overrated album. Tumbling Dice is a stone cold classic and there's one or two other great songs but overall it's more abour good vibes than songwriting

Hey, sorry, I didn't see that bit before.

I don't seem to remember making fun of Yoko Ono.

I actually like a couple of her songs ("Mrs Lennon", "Mind Holes" and two or three others), and I always liked her vocals when she sang on Lennon's albums.

"Kiss Kiss Kiss" and "Every man has a woman who loves him" are actually in my top 3 tracks from Double Fantasy.

I don't see how her musical output and Beefheart's are comparable in any sense though.

When I was 15 or so I did dislike her very much because of the whole "she broke up the Beatles" thing, but you know, we all believed. stupid **** when we were that age.

I do still dislike her as a person though, mostly because of the whole thing with her denying Julian his father's inheritance and not letting Cynthia go to John's funeral. But it's not like that's of much importance to me when listening to the music she made.

I was never a fan of canceling artists because of what they did in private.
Like with that guy from Noir Desir who killed his mistress when they were high on coke or something and doing BDSM, after which he went to prison (rightly so), and after he served his time he tried to revive the band and no concert halls wanted to have anything to do with him. Or other instances of this kind of thing.

I even like some Charles Manson songs lol

Cynthia didn't go to John's funeral because he didn't have one. Yoko had him cremated in a private ceremony. As for Julian, I'm not sure what was going on there but he obviously had bad feelings towards Yoko. It didn't/doesn't seem to affect his relationship with Sean though.

And that's why his first wife and his firstborn child's mother should not be let in?

There are interviews with both Julian and Cynthia where they say that Cynthia wanted to come, but Yoko said she can't, and that Julian can come alone if he wishes so.

Even if he had bad feelings about Yoko, that does not mean that he should sue her in order to get anything of the inheritance. If I remember correctly, he actually went to buy Lennon's stuff that Yoko sold in auctions in. order to get some of the memorabilia of his father.

Thank god (in which I don't believe) not.

Children should not bear the weight of their parents' sins.

Again, all these things have nothing to do with what I think of her artistic output

I actually like it, though that might not be the feeling she aimed for her audience to have

Since we're talking about them on the last couple pages, Led Zepp should have been a soft rock/folk rock band. Those are all of their best songs. They're great at their instruments but the heavy stuff that makes up 75% of their output just sounds like cock rock to me. If you can make stuff like Rain Song or Stairway to Heaven just do it all the time.

I'm not a super huge fan of them, but even I know that this imaged incarnation would be terrible.

Led Zeppelin wouldn't be half as interesting if they only did one kind of song, yeah I wish they did more ballads and folk rock stuff because those tend to be among my favorites but a world without Immigrant Song, When The Levee Breaks, Kashmir or Achilles Last Stand is not one I'd want to live in.
