Hey! I resent that! I'm nearly sixty and I am not going to live (unless that new wonder drug I sent off to Nigeria for works - very expensive but may be worth it) to 120, so I'm certainly not middle-aged! Drop the middle part please.

I know my age, or rather my attitude towards life, doesn't make me a full-fledged adult, but "kid" is a bit excessive.
