I'm sure I like more Pumpkins songs, like Siamese Dream I know has some bangers, but my indifference to the band as a whole has left me with little interest to listen to them more so that one song sort of has to totemistically embody all of my good feelings towards them.

I'll take Oasis over STP, hell yeah. I like STP but they've never knocked anything out of the park like Oasis has. I'll take Oasis over Blur as well, not because I think they're a better band but because Blur has no album as consistently enjoyable as Definitely Maybe.

And Nine Inch Nails I mainly like for Pretty Hate Machine cause it's grimy production is perfect whereas Downward Spiral kind of loses the aesthetic value of simplicity that made the debut so good. Never listened to anything beyond that.

Fair enough - but they've got some great songs in their early discography. Certainly some stuff as good or better than Zero, despite how great that song is.

Morning Glory is my prefered Oasis album but Definitely Maybe is nearly on the same level. Pop rock at near its highest form, despite how derivative it is.

Bro, you gotta check out their double album follow up to the Downward Spiral, The Fragile. Some absolutely great production, and the songwriting is on point. An incredibly lush album.

Stone Temple Pilots. You must have heard some of their songs before.

Right, right. No, I haven't. That sort of thing bores me. But I couldn't work out the acronym. Thanks. How exactly do you pilot a stone temple, anyway?

They're not that bad. Their music got more interesting for a time with their third album. When they stopped aping their peers so much.

They are pilots of the stone temple. And the first iteration was Stone Temple Pirates. They made the right change.

Based on what? They aren't getting finger banged by Pitchfork? Or aren't 1954 ****-my-sister music. Give me a break. There are a lot of band bands. You don't have to like them. But they're not bad. It might be worth finding a better word for describing what you mean.

Their third album received a pretty warm review on Pitchfork for what it's worth.

If it wasn't for "Art School Girl", it would probably be my favorite album from them. Their fifth album (Shangri La) is also really underrated. I got the chance to see them live before Scott died, they put on a great show.
