Definitely an improvement but the 3 Cliff era albums can't be beat IMO.

Btw guess whose idea it was to mix out all the bass on AJFA.

...

Why the f*ck does anyone listen to Lars?

Sorry Metallica fans, I like bass.
Most of the non-singles are just half-baked watered-down AFJA that are tedious to listen to and make actually finishing the album an absolute chore, most of the singles I'm fine never hearing ever again, "Nothing Else Matters" always sucked, "Sad But True" is a less good self-plagiarized version of "Harvester of Sorrow", and 9/11 ruined "Don't Tread on Me". The only songs I'll still bump are "Where Ever I May Roam", "The Unforgiven", and "Of Wolf and Man".

These metallica opinions are more "uninformed" than unpopular, but here's some thing I can't let stand:

I guess I don't understand the argument "we should have less music." I can only guess it's because people think "album" is a measurement of music that has some relevance. It's a dumb concept and it should die. That said the longer tracks on Load like Bleeding Me and Outlaw Torn - I want an album full of that. I've always said Re/Load was Metallica trying to write like Ac/Dc. But Outlaw/Bleeding/Hero of the Day/Fixxxer are like Metallica trying to do Crazy Horse-era Neil Young.

No. I agree with BooBoo, Black is better than AJFA. No one wants more wank. Sad But True is what heavy rock should be.

"Sad But True" is objectively inferior to "Harvester of Sorrow" unless you own a black pickup truck you use only to drive to the used car dealership you own.

It does rule but let's not pretend Davey M is thrash-to-the-bone. That was a pro-wrestlrs theme song.

I do not own a truck or a used car lot (great Tom Waits reference though) and I prefer SBT. It doesn't sound like it was recorded in a tin-can with a playschool microphone.

The best I can say about post-AJFA Metallica is that Load and Reload had some fun tunes and St. anger would have been a halfway decent album if they'd chopped every song in half.

Sorry, was thinking of a different fight. Carry on.

You're still wrong about HoS though.

Bro wut in that fuk. "Sad but True" is chud-core. "Harvester of Sorrow" is visceral, bone crushing perfection. The only reason to like the former more is if you're a bitch who likes a soundtrack for beating their wife but thinks actual metal that reaches into the core of human aggression is still somehow weird and too much for their limited ability for consumption.

Has it ever occurred to you that there might be other ways to see things?

Yes I just outlined your way of seeing things. If I can get you to appreciate "Harvester of Sorrow" will you stop beating your wife?
