Gotcha

I'm sure I've heard his music before. I knew of Bitches Brew. I believe a US brewery made a beer of the same name, in honour of the album's anniversary.

You guys have seen my review of Bitches Brew in my Classic Albums journal, haven't you? Oh wait: I'm still alive. I guess not.

Does anyone else also agree that Metallica's quality of songs has gone down now?

That's not an unpopular opinion at all, The Black Album is generally considered their last good album and that was over 30 years ago.

100%. Dave is more meathead cringe but he's a better pop songwriter and way more fun. I still think he should have stuck to his guns and not tried to re-rebrand by going back to thrash. Risk wasn't perfect but it was his last good album and "Die Dead Enough" is the last Megadeth song I actually care about and it was the one song off The System Has Failed that wasn't trying to cater to thrash nerds. The best I can say about post-AJFA Metallica is that Load and Reload had some fun tunes and St. anger would have been a halfway decent album if they'd chopped every song in half.

If they condensed Load/Reload to one album, it would've been pretty tight. The drum sound on St. Anger is eargrating though.

As for Megadeth, I'd pin their last good album as Endgame. The System Has Failed is ok, kinda forgettable though.

The snare in St Anger is fine. Letting a 12 year old write their songs was what ****ed up that album.
