I do that to myself. I say "that could make a fire song".

Queen are mostly a singles band to me, but I always liked The Game and Hot Space as overall album experiences. The latter album is particularly underrated.

Yeah but that's really just asking for the music to be good, isn't it? Because I feel like the alternative proves my point.

If you're not moving the needle to a good song "because it's a whole piece of art, maaaan" then albums (which are an artificial measurement, to begin with) are just **** songs masquerading as art so they can't be criticized.

To answer your first question, Prog and art bands tend to do "whole pieces" and I just find it to be more pretension than passion.

Why are you measuring music?

Good album sequencing can give tracks more punch. The context of a theme can put you in the artist's head in ways that a standalone track might not, but that's pretty rare tbh. The album artist you're describing hasn't been relevant for a while now unless you're listening to Steve Wilsonian neoprog.

Having a coherent album is a bad thing because an album with a bunch of great singles is a good thing. Both can’t exist.

Derp derp.

Great forum. Need people. Not smart people. Just a **** ton of average uninteresting ****s. Where do we find them?
