1. I love Metallica and they're orders of magnitude better than Slayer.
2. Rust in Peace is better than Reign in Blood
3. The best solo Kerry King ever had was No Sleep 'til Brooklyn.

They're all pretty great, but Slayer takes the cake largely because of Dave Lombardo and their chaotic energy was unmatched in metal. Megadeth at their thrashiest sounded more like a group of teenagers who are scary because they might drunkenly crash their car (...or bus) into you. Slayer's a pack of rabid hellhounds.

Honestly after just relistening to God Hates Us All I kinda want to take them off my list. It's got nu metal riffs on it but it's still a stone cold ****ing thrash album.

Bitch, their debut is the perfect speed metal album while also being a schizo diatribe on what metal could have been had Dave not been a whacked out, inconsistent drug fiend who fired every member of the band other than his bassist every few years and was also trying to keep up with Metallica's success.

Also without Mustaine Metallica almost immediately evolved into a far less wild, more staid band who I would argue on their own without Mustaine ever being in the band may very well have never had a sound anywhere near Kill Em All, which kickstarted much of thrash especially in the Bay Area, and therefore Mustaine's biggest contribution to thrash might be an uncredited spark for the genre as a whole.

Nah Reign in Blood outshines that.

Totally. I think we would need to figure out if Dave was the one who discovered the Pauk album to really know though.

Both of those opinions should earn you a long ban.

I mean it's more developed and extreme but Killing Is My Business is more wild, raw, and unhinged which is more important to me. I'd love to hear what Megadeth would have done if they hadn't pulled back the reigns on Peace Sells and made a more accessible album but it is what it is. Even so Killing Is My Business is the album I go back to far more often and one of the high water marks for metal for me.

Same here, Slayer just hits a higher watermark.

I mean obviously I can understand that but I really have a taste for old school early/mid 80s speed metal like the Big 4 debuts (Megadeth's being the best) and **** like Omen, Exciter, Jag Panzer, whatever. So my preference for Killing Is My Business over Reign in Blood isn't really an anomaly. Show No Mercy is totally underrated of course.

Oh didn't notice. It's not even on my radar, but seriously you're like the Henry Rollins of Music Banter.
