Punk is probably the most influential genre to come from rock music. From modern metal to alternative to emo to goth to hip hop to even some pop.

Even Weeknd has a little punk in him.

It's like a fundamentally underdeveloped understanding of the genre or music as whole to insinuate that it's just a tiny sub-genre or is about being angry.

Na, they're def numetal. The idea behind genre is to make a melting pot of genres with metal being the core genre. Slipknot definitely did that.
