Bonus tracks, remasters, demos, alternative cuts etc should never be added to an original release even in a digital format. All outtakes and so on should be packaged separately without exception.

I don’t think I’ve ever heard a remaster that improved on the original.

Nobody really needs a six hour version of Bitches Brew.

Isn't that six hour version a separate package though?

Yeah.

I just think it waters down the legacy too much.

I don’t like the title “The Complete Bitches Brew Sessions”

It shouldn’t have the original material and should take a more modest name like “Bitches Brew Outtakes”

I don’t get how complimenting each other’s style can be separated from being better

The Smiths are better than Van Halen period. On all fronts.

I’ll rave about VH but I also live in reality.

99/100 times it's just a bloated cash grab, but I think that they're better with the originals on the to fully contextualize the recording process. It's not like the original version ceases to exist in light of a sessions release.

You can be carried by a strong rhythm section and good songwriting while still having a guitarist and vocalist that don't have as great of a chemistry between each other as a mediocre band with a guitarist and vocalist who are connected at the dick.

It’s kind of like the original fades a touch

I think we’ve batted this around before and basically I’m a lot more sentimental about legacy than you are

What you’re saying makes sense

This doesn’t mean I appreciate anything more than you but I’m like it’s sacred

Like I never want to hear a remix of tmr

It makes sense but my brain can’t process that. I’m an absolutist. Better bands are just better in my mind and I won’t concede any points. Especially if one band is unassailable and the other is not.

Early Van Halen is pretty unassailable tbh.

Lucem, you're right, it's silly to talk about what I would or wouldn't do IRL. Glad you brought it up. Maybe you should write an instrumental about it. I recommend a piano paired with a clarinet. With ambient sounds of you hanging from your shower curtain you ****ing failure.

Art Is Dead. Buy My ****.
