whether you like pearl jam or not, once upon a time, when they were one of the 2-3 best selling acts in popular music, they fought a long legal fight (eventually lost) with ticketmaster to lower concert ticket prices for the fans.
it was a very diferrent time, the music industry was earning BIG money and they could just keep going to the bank like so many other rebelious indie rockers of the same generation did. the businesses involved in the music industry were also pretty big and powerful back then, so there was big risk involved, but they did it anyway as for the music of pearl jam, yea it probably ddidnt age good, i havent listened to an album of them for many years.. |

And they took Sleater-Kinney on tour once <3
Symphathetic band, it's a pity that they didn't make good music

They were cool with charging top dollar for their tickets, they just went after Ticketmaster for tacking on fees that usually amount to an extra 5 dollars on the ticket with some fees being as high as 15 dollars. If it wasn't a legitimate legal battle I'd call it a publicity stunt to everymanify Pearl Jam to the public.

You say circus act. I say mad, almost savant like skills.
Petrucci, Portnoy, Myung, and Rudess are all pretty bad ass on their respective instruments from a technical standpoint. disclaimer: if technical proficiency is meaningless to you, read no further They are all held in the highest regard among their peers. That section after the 10:00 mark is all 4 of them running the 100 yard dash to the extreme of their chops. disclaimer: 'ditto' The fact that ANY single person is able to play all 4 parts as tightly and cleanly as this kid does is mind blowing. Kicker for me? Dude's right hand picking is INSANE as seen in the guitar parts. He could have easily picked all of the bass parts. Instead he does it finger style like Myung. I can't emphasize how hard it is to play extremely difficult bass parts at blazing speed that way. The size of the strings and length of scale make it much more of a physical exercise along with the precision. Hate the music. Hate technique. Hate kids. This is mind blowing. And not in a spinning 8 plates at a time way.

I wouldn't be surprised if they were mathematical or "left-brained" savants because they can't write a compelling bar of music to save their lives. Pretty cool if you approach music like a sport I guess.
