Quite impressive. I think 1 of them was even listenable.

man when I was younger I thought Into the Electric Castle was so dope. I think ill always hold "Isis and Osiris" as a good song (same as "Comatose" from Y), even if it's unlikely I listen to an album of his in its entirety again. They're relics of my past self and I think they should remain there in piece.

Last time I went back and listened to my past embarassments, I ended up liking them. I had to buy a bunch of Guano Apes and No Doubt albums again.
When I started to get into music more in depth, I had a real stick up my ass and got rid of anything that wasn't "omg so deep".
Now I really enjoy simple, catchy popular music if it's got personality.

If the hook is good the pop is good. This is my mantra. I'm considering extending it to all genres.

it's not that im embarrassed of ever liking those songs/albums or anything, but I don't really have an interest in listening to it anymore. it's like a 3 hour prog metal opera and that's not really my bag these days.

The secret to really good pop music is that there's more to it than just the hook, though. I love it when the whole progression of a song, front to back, just really makes everything come together perfectly. Plus interesting little details in the mix and such.

Most of the stuff I truly love is verse-chorus-verse material, whether we're talking dance pop, indie electronic or singer/songwriter material of varying descriptions.

I do like music that's more instrumentally elaborated and with looser structure, but when we get far away from memorable verses and choruses, I guess classical is where I feel most at home by now. And honestly, it's simpler music that I listen to 95% of the time.

I never pay attention to the lyrics so I guess I don't mind if they're cringe

To be fair, Pink Floyd is pretty lame.

I might be able to get into kraut rock. I've heard things that I like, but more in general, repetition isn't really doing it for me if it goes far enough with the concept.

I like that feeling when a song has a beginning, middle and end and it wraps up nicely. Then on to the next, hopefully memorable, tune.

Like most of the dad rock canon, I'm just not really feeling it.
I tolerate Floyd just fine, but there's none of that electrifying feeling of really being into it.

You'll probably look back at that attitude and cringe.
