See what I mean about you not liking metal?

Arguably, you can find Nu metal elements both in Dir En Grey and Waltari if you look hard. But I never really liked the genre in it's purest form. I like Guano Apes a lot, but they're leaning for more towards alternative rock than nu metal.
EDIT: **** I forgot Deftones! Entirely decent band. Also, a month ago I listened to a few Slipknot albums, including their debut. I don't think they're a good band. Better than LP, sure, but what isn't? Some nu metal related songs I like just because: The best song Deftones ever did https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dVMfISO9T1Q an older Dir En Grey song that has some detectable nu metal elements. I don't really feel like they ever went straight nu metal. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GCFIaP9eaWc This Infected Rain song is pretty nu metal in some ways. It even has record scratching! It really takes more after modern prog metal/djent and groove metal, but still. Those ringing guitars in the verse are so nu metal. There was a certain atmospheric aesthetic that nu metal bands played around with that bands have taken in better directions by now. Deftones were probably the main banner carrier as far as this side of nu metal goes. Just a shame that most bands found a thousand ways to be super lame instead. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0qF4DFiy_Jw Guano Apes. The groove in the verse makes it easier to understand why this band was lumped in with nu metal. They had heavier songs, but the alt-rock thing was really what defined them imo. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-TsYsYD_ykU I like Kittie a lot, and they certainly also got lumped in with other nu metal acts when they first hit the scene. You can kind of hear why, but they quickly became more of a groove metal/thrash/alternative band. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-n7DfMU_nls Last edited by MicShazam; 08-07-2018 at 02:05 AM. |

I also don't think that counts as an unpopular opinion. No one in here likes Kittie except me. |
