....the only people I could see makin' a stink over this are pearl jam fans. They're sort of like the grateful dead--people are either wholeheartedly devoted to them or they couldn't give a ****....I agree with you though.

yep, i think keidis has a fine way with words and quite an affinity in organizing them in interesting ways. his delivery of said words has deteriorated significantly over the years, but on paper, i still think they're good words. hehehe

green days american idiot is a damn good album.
kirk hammets solos are pretty terrible, especially anything off the black album. death/dark/satanic metal is all terrible. TERRIBLE. there is no such thing as tasteful death metal. its garbage. blast beats, although impressive sound stupid, listen to any good jazz drummer and youll realize that the snare drum should be used for accenting parts of the song not going toddler with his first drumset on it. people that enjoy music because of the image the band portays instead of their musician ship and originality are all stupid. marijuana is amazing, and if used properly could help a singer/songwriter perform. marijuana is amazing, and if used improperly will turn a singer/songwriter into a buffoon holding a guitar. thats all i can think of right now. |

fine, in that case the track in question is called 'nobody weird like me' in 1989 it did seem out of the ordinary for someone to be rapping about passing gas on a major label. it fit the tune and reinforced the aloof and comical nature of the group while reminding its listeners in an indirect fashion that they wouldn't shy away from unpopular / 'unacceptable' lyrical topics and reinforced themselves as a group of weirdos. when alt-rock was still legitimately odd. while it's possible to find all manners of fart related musical media on youtube now, 20 years ago it wasn't so prevalent.
considering the preceding verse is... 'intercourse with a porpoise is a dream for me hellbent on creating a new species' following that up with a verse about a laughing giraffe and a fart doesn't exactly seem out of place. *edit* holy ****ing **** 1989 was 20 years ago |
