I agree that it's overrated but I wouldn't say that it's the most popular nor that it could be done away with. There are a lot of lame copycats but there's a lot of great stuff as well. I think that trad heavy metal is still the most popular tbh, unless you were to ask a younger crowd, then it might be death or black metal.

Ja, Thrash Metal is overrated. However "Crossover Thrash" is where it's at.
